Alex Sickler is a Bioinformatics Engineer in the Rokita Lab and the Brain Tumor Institute Bioinformatics Core at Children’s National Hospital (CNH).
Before starting at CNH, Alex worked as a software engineer at GeneDx writing analysis software supporting diagnostic sequencing for rare genetic diseases then as a contractor at the National Cancer Institute where he primarily worked on the NCI-MATCH clinical trial. Most recently, Alex was a Bioinformatics Engineer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at the Center for Data-Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b) working on data automations.
Alex is passionate about inspiring others to collaborate, work more efficiently, and scaling research.
Alex completed his B.S. in Biology at Juniata College and recently became a Scrum Master. Outside of the lab, Alex enjoys telling puns, playing board games, building community, and advocating for safer streets.
